I’ve read about all sorts of PR bloggers getting together and having a grand old time. Blogger meetups. Geek Dinners. Conferences. Un-conferences.
I read about them with jealousy, as they always seem to happen on the other side of the world.
So I figured – bugger it. I’m a young go-getter. I’ll set up an Aussie PR ‘Beer for Bloggers’ meet up…
But – Trevor and Chris live 1000 kilometers from me, Lee 2000 kilometres.
So the end result was:
The beer was phenomenal… conversation left a lot to be desired…

Poor Paull.
Drinking alone is no fun, friend. Anytime I happen to be in Australia, I’ll give you a ring.
For the mean time, I’m having an un-PR get together at my house tonight. I’ll have a drink for you, mate.

Hang on a minute…
You weren’t really alone at all – someone is behind the camera taking the picture! Shame on you for making us all feel sorry for you!
And anyway, at least there can’t have been a long wait at the bar. Silver linings and all that.

dont worry, there is lots of virtual collectively collaborated beer drinking by bootstrapped aussie bloggers. now if it had been a jug in the photo i might have believed there were more people there

One word … Genius!

Owen – No fun! You’ve obviously never had a sip of Coopers Pale Ale.
Alex – Just me and a very confused (but helpful) Japanese tourist.
Ben – I can tell you’re the only Aussie commenting on this post
Stephen – One word… Cheers!

Cheers Drew. And, likewise, I’ve added yours to my feeds.

Hey, were you really alone. If so, who took the picture?
We will make a toast to you on Wednesday

Gee whiz – you just can’t get anything by the PR blogosphere… and who said that bloggers won’t accountable!
Thanks for thinking of me Kami

What were you drinking?

Ah Paull, Had I known you were sampling the mighty SA drop, Coopers Pale Ale, I would have flown up especially. Ah well, next time! Lee

Drew – as Lee said, it was Coopers Pale Ale – Australia’s finest.
Lee – it’s certainly a lot warmer up this end of the country!

Paull,
Excellently done, as per usual. What I don’t understand from reading the comments is: Do people think you can’t get a camera with a timer on it in Australia? Cut him some slack, if the guy says he’s alone, he looks bloody well alone to me!
Of course, what kind of egomaniac takes pictures of himself with his own camera?
July 18th, 2006 at 1:59 am
Luke – probably the same type of egomaniac who starts a blog…

[...] Paull: None of the AD things would have happened if I hadn’t started my blog. Those are the key bridges blogging has built for me, but I’ve also learnt more in my time in the blogosphere than I did in my time at uni. Taking nothing away from my course, which is the best PR degree in Australia. Starting a blog has changed my life. It’s made me some great friendships around the world, opened my eyes to our profession and made me think about a lot of things on a global scale. Despite the fact that there’s little interest in social media in Australia, I’ve managed to develop this passion purely online. [...]

[...] In other news, Aussie blogger Paull Young (didn’t I just mention him above?), after months of lonely blogging in Australia is headed on a World Blog Tour. To honor his courage and daring bravado, I have taken it upon myself to ridicule his dream in public on the Forward site. I think you should check it out, it could be some of my finest heckling. Hey, what are friends for? [...]
